After being in the bagel business for over 70 years we are often asked about how healthy bagels are and whether they’re good for weight loss, so we thought it would be helpful to make a post based on our experience.
First and foremost, as the old saying goes, “everything in moderation” – if you are eating too many bagels or loading them up with a pile of delicious cream cheese that’s not necessarily the healthiest option. And it’s also where using reduced fat cream cheese or even vegan cream cheese can be just as tasty without the guilt.
Secondly, it’s important to know that not all bagels are created equal and while classic New York bagels are most common, there are also healthier alternatives like whole grain bagels as well as high-protein bagels that are popular among athletes and others with active lives.
The healthy bagel trend is actually something we noticed many years ago which sparked us to create our own line of healthy bagels that have become very popular. In particular, our low-carb whole grain Alternative 2.0 bagels and our Perfect 10+ that are packed with protein.
