Bagels are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, which is how all Western Bagel locations serve them. But what about when you purchase a dozen and save some for later? How long can your bagels last? Let’s discuss how to keep bagels fresh and safe to eat over time.
Our classic bagels can be stored in sealed plastic bags, which keep air out and will keep them soft for approximately 3 to 4 days. It is recommended not to immediately store warm bagels in plastic bags to prevent soggy and moldy bagels. For best flavor retention, keep different-flavored bagels separate! We provide plastic bags at our Western Bagel locations upon request.
Our Perfect 10+ and Alternative bagels can be stored for much longer and will last about 6 to 9 months in the freezer if stored upon receipt. Once you’re ready to enjoy your bagels, allow them to thaw at room temperature for at least 2 hours, then enjoy! Remember, if a bagel has signs of mold, do not consume it, no matter how long it’s been kept in storage.
We hope this gives you more insight into how to care for your bagels and ensure you always eat the freshest bagels! Visit one of our Western Bagel locations today for LA’s freshest and chewiest bagels! Locate your nearest one here.
